Find your NBS

When the user has fulfilled the interactive menus of the left side of this page, a list of NBS capable of work under the specified conditions are shown below. Each NBS is shown with its name, a picture, short description, the pollutants/nutrient it is able to remove and pictograms that describes the co-benefits it has, the knowledge requirements of the operators, the maintenance level and biohazard level. By passing the cursor over these pictograms, the user can see the description of each.

DATA DRIVEN APPROACH CALCULATION (Work in progress)

After identifying which NBS types are most appropriate for your wastewater treatment conditions, complete the information below in order to estimate the land surface area required to achieve specific pollutant removal targets. These estimates are derived from mathematical formulas which describe pollutant reduction performance for each NBS type, based on reviewed scientific publications.
Note that this is an ongoing work, and the area estimates should be considered as rough estimates. The more case-studies are introduced in the online database, the more reliable the estimates are going to be, as the mathematical formulas are fitted with the uploaded case-studies. Furthermore, there’s an ongoing EU 2020 project (MULTISOURCE) working on this data-driven approach, thus more reliable equations will be soon available.
